Summary of the Speech ...

Admiral ‘Ace’ Lyons, Commander-in-Chief of the Pacific Fleet, under Reagan, calls Joe a “true American.” Original or authentic Republicans, such as Joe, stand for, among other things,

  • civil liberties
  • small government (John Kennedy size)
  • the gold standard (dollars redeemable in gold)
  • protective tariffs where appropriate
  • no illegal immigration
  • manageable legal immigration (much fewer than permitted now)
  • a benevolent foreign policy backed by strong military power

Policies such as these sustained the American Dream up to 1972 and made America preeminent.

Liberal Democrats and some Republicans scuttled the aforementioned, successful policies, in the years 1965 to 1972. As a result, the American Dream was stuntedAVERAGE WAGES ADJUSTED FOR INFLATION PEAKED IN 1972! Had wages adjusted for inflation continued to rise at the rate they rose from the 1950s to 1972, then wages would be twice as high today!! Today the median household income--with both spouses working--is $48,500. How abysmal. The average individual's wage today should be over $60,000, not what it is, namely, $31,500. Then one parent could be the sole bread winner, as it used to be up to 1972.

Arminio's campaign is about doubling wages, through reinstating the pro-worker, pro-growth policies predating 1972!

Neocons, who are liberals calling themselves conservatives, and who have dominated the GOP since the early 1970s, have moved us even farther away from the policies that made us great.
Regarding domestic affairs, Neocons are, among other things, for big government and against protective tariffs.
Liberal Democrats have campaigned against tariffs since the mid 1800s!

The ECONOMY
The Neocons, who came to power in 1995, nearly doubled the federal debt, presided over an increase by about a third in the total debt bubble (federal and private sector debt as a share of gross domestic product), and bludgeoned industry, farms and good jobs, through such measures as NAFTA and CAFTA.

The devaluation of the dollar began several weeks ago, largely because the Neocons have ballooned the debt and stricken production. Foreigners are dumping dollars out of disgust or fear. If we do not restore value to the dollar very soon, we could be paying $6 or more for a gallon of gasoline and paying twice as much on utility bills.

Arminio's campaign is also about reviving the dollar, via those tried-and-tested policies pre-dating 1972. For one thing, the gold standard has been the most powerful inhibitor of borrowing in the history of our country. For another thing, protective tariffs helped launch our industry; they are now doing the same for Red China.

The WAR
It should unsettle us that the Neocons are the architects of the war in Iraq. There is no question we ought to hunt Al Qaeda down like the dogs they are.

But we should not be in Iraq.

The war is unconstitutional; Congress did not declare war; Congress abdicated its responsibility to the Executive Branch.

Iraq may or may not have had significant arsenal of weapons of mass destruction on the eve of the war.
What ultimately mattered was the following.
The entire US intelligence community emphatically concluded well in advance of the invasion of Iraq--I refer to the National Intelligence Estimate of October 1, 2002--that Saddam Hussein had no role in the attack of September 11, nor were Saddam Hussein and Al Qaeda linked.

What is more, the war in Iraq has actually benefited Al Qaeda.

The balance of power in the Persian Gulf could be maintained without a single American in ground combat in Iraq. See the essence of the better way below. For more details, see the Arminio Alternative.

What then is the main motive for waging war in Iraq? The Neocons would rather wage war then fix the economy. Our invasion and occupation of Iraq intimidates the Muslim oil producers as a whole to continue to sell oil in dollars. If Islam sells oil in euros, then the supreme role of the dollar is lost and our economy collapses. Some in OPEC have been talking about switching to the euro. In late 2000, Iraq switched its sale of oil from dollars to euros. In 2003, we switched Iraq back to dollars.

Regarding foreign policy, Neocons are endless-war, Wilsonian interventionists. Their Iraq war policy is isolating America, not Al Qaeda!
What we should do instead is implement the “Arminio Alternative” to the war, which would include:

1) Restoring value to the dollar (our allies will fight gladly for
     us then),
2) Dividing Iraq into 3 parts,
3) Tasking our Sunni Muslim allies, including Egypt and Saudi
Arabia, to provide the ground power in
Iraq,
4) Only committing American air and sea power to the defense
of Iraq and the surrounding region
(if necessary, the US would
     impose a naval blockade
against Iranian oil shipments or Shiite
     Iraqi oil shipments or both),
5) Freeing American ground power for the pursuit and destruction
of Al Qaeda in its principal lair in Pakistan and Afghanistan
     (
and for other vital missions),
6) Rehabilitating and increasing American military power as a
whole, including deploying the badly needed missile defenses.

Arminio's campaign is about doing things the right way again--
a) restoring Teddy Roosevelt's "big stick," b) ending the nonsense of democracy building, c) repairing our tarnished reputation and d) focusing on winning the war against the terrorists.

Arminio's primary opponents Gilchrest and Harris are Neocons; and although they may differ over such things as pro-choice or pro-life, they are part of the deadly incumbent machine.
Gilchrest voted along with the Neocons to add more than $4 Trillion to the federal debt, to bring us the job-killers NAFTA and CAFTA, to harm civil liberties through the Patriot Act and to wage war in Iraq for at least six consecutive years.
Harris is silent about substandard wages, the devaluation of the dollar and the harm done by the Neocons. He also
promotes and echoes Neocon war policy.

Arminio, on the other hand, fights to restore original GOP policies that helped make the country second to none. Moreover, Arminio
is the champion of the Constitution and Bill of Rights. He is pro-life and pro-second Amendment, opposes the unconstitutional provisions of the Patriot Act, opposes slots and government sponsored casino gambling, and would prohibit introducing non-native oysters into the Chesapeake Bay.
